Brownstoner’s post yesterday about the Notorious B.I.G. movie reminded me that Filming In Brooklyn took these pictures of the Notorious shoot in Clinton Hill at the end of April, back before there was a Filming In Brooklyn site to post them on. But hey, better late than never.
It always amazes me how many trucks are needed to shoot a few scenes for a feature film. Blocks and blocks of equipment trucks, hair and make-up and costume trucks, catering trucks, bathroom trucks…
And lots and lots of equipment.
There was construction going on that day at the very corner (Fulton and Washington) where the shoot was taking place, but a source on the set told FIB that the construction crew had agreed to stop working for the rest of the day once shooting started. Refreshing to hear that everybody can work together.
It was a pretty chilly day, but the actors had to act like it was warmer. A few of them put on coats between shots, but most of them toughed it out.
The crew, of course, got to stay bundled up.
This rather long scene consisted of a dice game, a young man doing pull-ups on a lamppost, and some other street corner stuff. Unfortunately FIB couldn’t hear any of the dialog.

I have’nt seen the movie yet but i met “Gravey” a.k.a. Biggie. Personally I think the casting was a bit off, I think that Gorilla Black should have played Big, he sounds exactly like Big and looks more like him then Gravey. i think the two actors who played Puffy & Tupac should have switched rolls, Puffys not that dark and Pac is not that light. Again I haven’t seen the movie yet but I hope its good. RIP Biggie & Tupac
