Damages In Fort Greene

July 21st, 2008 · 15 Comments

The FX drama Damages, which was just nominated for a bunch of Emmys, is filming today on Cleremont Avenue near DeKalb. When I stopped by, series star Rose Byrne was filming a scene outside of a restaurant with new series regular Timothy Olyphant, last seen on TV in Deadwood.

Here are some shots of the crew getting ready to shoot:

Here’s Rose Byrne getting ready to film a scene (she’s sitting at the table by the wall; Timothy Olyphant is behind the sound guy).

The scene was long-ish, but I couldn’t hear any of the dialogue.

After the cast and crew broke for lunch, I approached Timothy Olyphant and asked him if I could get a picture. He insisted that I be in it with him, and I was very upfront with him, telling him it was for this site and that I’d rather not be in it (I’ve been through this before). He joked around with me for a minute and then told me (in a very nice way) that he’d only do the picture if I was in it and promised not to crop myself out. So of course I said yes, and you can see the picture here. He was extremely pleasant about the whole thing. And frankly, I wouldn’t have blamed him if he had not been pleasant, seeing as he had to wear a long-sleeved sweater in 90-degree weather.

They’ve been around that corner all day. Did anyone else manage to get any pictures? Was Glenn Close on the scene at all?

That is so cool I always thought Timothy Olyphant was scary.

Everyone on Deadwood was scary, even the “good” guys!

As for the restaurant, I have to chalk this up to the heat combined with jetlag. I didn’t even notice the restaurant. I had a fleeting thought about it, but I just wanted to get home and figured I just “knew” what restaurant was on that corner and would figure it out when I got home. But I can’t place it either. I live in the neighborhood, and I’ll go back tomorrow and see.

The restaurant is Sushi D on the corner of Dekalb and Adelphi…which is really good, BTW.

And, as always, you’re welcome Amy!

    :D

OK, it was REALLY hot and I must have been REALLY tired because I’ve eaten at SushiD two dozen times. I’m vegetarian and generally don’t like Asian food but their veggie tempura is the best I’ve ever had.

Nathan, what would I do without you?

Uh…stand around on Clermont wondering where all the movie people were?

Amy, why would Timothy Olyphant insists on having you in the picture? [He joked around with me]. Noisy, about what?

  • 13 Amy // Aug 5, 2008 at 6:37 pm

I don’t know. Perhaps he thought that I was just being polite or shy but in reality wanted to be in the picture. Maybe he thought that if I was in it then I couldn’t sell the picture (which I would never do anyway). And I wish I could say that he joked around with me about something interesting, but he joked around with me about not wanting to be in the picture.
