Hello all, while I recover from the first three days of the New York Television Festival (which is still going on BTW, until Wednesday - you can still get tickets) and try to write it all down, here’s a guest post from Tracy, our Fringe screening winner. Enjoy!
The screening was a very exciting night for me & my friend Maria. The red carpet arrival was dampened by the fact that neither Anna Torv, Joshua Jackson, or Lance Reddick showed up, and that it was held inside due to the rain, but it was cool seeing Mark Valley, John Noble, Blair Brown, & Jasika Nicole. We were walked past the press line interviewing the actors and others involved with the show on our way into the theater, so we only got glimpses of them though. Just seeing the process of how the red carpet interviews are set up was interesting. The theater only seated 500 people, so there wasn’t a bad seat in the place.
This was the second episode, which I was excited to see before it aired. I think it made it a little difficult for the people there who hadn’t yet seen the pilot episode though, like my friend Maria, & some people we met in line and then sat with. They had me give them a rundown on the pilot to try to bring them up to speed.
The episode was just as freaky, spooky, exciting, & funny as the first. There were some really gross out scenes involving an eyeball, & it was really funny to hear the whole audience gasping & groaning as one. lolol Overall I think the episode was great, & I think there was even more humor than in the pilot. There were more clues laid down about ‘The Pattern’, & more mysteries set up.
It was great seeing it on the big screen, & hearing audience reaction to everything. I think it was very well received.
One of the most exciting parts was seeing a scene that Amy had reported on & posted photos of on her site!!! I was tugging on Maria’s arm & whispering excitedly ‘Amy was there for that!!!’ hehehe Well done Amy.
After it ended, they brought out the actors, etc for a discussion, but Maria & I had to leave. But in talking to Amy, we didn’t miss much. Her report will cover that.
All in all, it was a fantastic experience. I was so excited all day, I couldn’t wait till it was time to go. I’m so thankful to Filming In Brooklyn for the tickets and for the experience of a lifetime. I’m also really happy for Amy, because I know she got a lot of really great interviews, & she was in her element.
As an aside to my review, I have to tell you what the actual event had to overcome for me to still say it was a great night. I live in PA, 2 hours from NYC. I usually take the bus from Clinton, NJ, but the return bus times didn’t work w/ the ending time of the screening: we’d either have to leave a little early or wait 2 hours for the next bus. So we drove in, & planned to park at the Port Authority. We came through the Lincoln Tunnel, & all of a sudden there’s smoke coming from my engine. I was miraculously able to cut across 2 lanes of traffic & pull into an open parking space(another miracle), & find that all my antifreeze has leaked out. I called Roadside Assistance for a tow, & then leave a panicked msg for Amy because I realize we’re not going to make it to the box office to pick up our tickets before they close @ 6. I then thought to send Maria up while I waited, so she went, & I waited & waited till the truck finally came. (I was NOT going to miss the show after all this!) While I’m making my way up to the theater, Amy left me the nicest, most calming msg, telling me to try not to stress too much, that I would make it in time, & to not let it get to me too much, or I wouldn’t be able to enjoy myself.
I finally get to the theater, find Maria, & then Amy, & Amy gives me a big hug, & then says ‘I know you’re stressed, so I went & got chocolate.’ lololol God, I love this woman. hehehe She didn’t know what I liked so she had 5 or 6 different kinds of candy bars. What a sweetheart. Nice too, since we ended up never having time for dinner. Best laid plans & all that. We had to leave early, rush like crazy, & made our bus w/ only 4 minutes to spare. Thank God my sister lives in the town where the bus stops, so they could leave my Mom’s car there for me to drive home to PA in.
So now my car is in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn, about 2 1/2 hours from home, & I’ll have to take the bus & then the subway in to get it, & then drive it home. Amy even offered to help me pick it up if it wasn’t near a subway stop. Can you believe how nice this woman is????
So for me to say that we had a fantastic time, and it was a great night, after all that happened, & with the fact that I still have to get my car from Brooklyn, that should tell you how much we enjoyed it.
Tracy Edwards
Well, there you have it, the episode was great, cars always break down at the worst possible times, and if I can’t weigh 110 pounds then I’m going to push chocolate on the rest of the world. All part of my master plan.
