ABC has posted a video “starter kit” for Life on Mars (thanks to FIB reader Jill for the link), which has filmed extensively in Brooklyn. The series, starring Jason O’Mara, Gretchen Mol, Harvey Keitel, and Michael Imperioli, tells the story of a NYC cop who gets transported back to 1973. Or maybe he’s just in a coma and dreaming the whole thing, we don’t know.
Maybe I’m just becoming a sucker for shows that film in Brooklyn (I LOVE Fringe), but Mars looks like it’s going to be really entertaining. And I’m not just talking about the facial hair. It seems like the perfect series for all those people who claim to miss the “good old days” when New York was covered in graffiti and the entertainment in Times Square definitely was not of the Disney variety.
Life On Mars premieres this Thursday, October 9th at 10pm on ABC.

I’m super psyched about this show. NYC in the 70’s is so crazy. and the clip i saw seems like they’re capturing all that. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vEWpWM7Iyhc

I finally just got to watch this. Loved it, & can’t wait for the show. Even though I was only 10 in 73, can’t wait for the music & fashion. Yes, I still had 8 track tapes as a kid! Can’t remember how long they lasted until cassette tapes came along.

I’m not up-to-date right now on that – or any other – show. But I have them on my DVR. What date did that one air? I’ll check it out.
