The Sorcerer’s Apprentice was filming scenes at a Park Slope subway station yesterday when a real fire broke out on the same block. According to the website In My Backyard, the fire completely destroyed Grace Cleaners at 511 9th Street, and damaged the apartments upstairs.
A couple of commenters on the brownstoner website confused the fire with the movie shoot.
Filming on the Nicolas Cage movie, based on the dancing broomstick scene from Fantasia, is scheduled to resume Thursday at the corner of Seventh Avenue and 9th Street.
