Premiere of The MessengerAccording to On Location Vacations, the HBO drama Boardwalk Empire is filming today in the vicinity of Decatur and Stuyvesant. There’s an interesting little article in GQ about Boardwalk Empire filming on a recreated boardwalk set in Greenpoint, complete with trucked-in sand and everything.

Incidentally, the article mentions that Gretchen Mol is in the series.  I can’t find her in the cast on imdb.com, but I hope it’s true – she was fantastic as “No Nuts Norris” in Life on Mars (which also filmed extensively in Brooklyn) so I’m glad she might have landed herself another good gig.  The series also stars Park Slope resident Steve Buscemi.
