So a funny thing happened after I said that I wasn’t going to post anymore: traffic kept coming. I didn’t expect that. I’ve always gotten a lot of my traffic from google, readers looking for pictures of a certain celebrity. But after I stopped posting, people stopping by looking for a new post stuck around exploring old ones. I stopped posting because I was sure that it had to be an almost daily thing in order to keep traffic up and make it worthwhile, but I was wrong.

Then this morning, a bunch of pictures landed in my inbox. So, I will post pictures and interesting tidbits when I get them. I have no idea what the frequency will be. But if you get pictures of a shoot please send them in, and I’ll post them, since there’s still definitely an audience.

Thanks to all of you for your support!

Hello all, I’m sorry to say that I won’t be posting to Filming In Brooklyn anymore. I don’t have time any longer to do it well. When I first started this site I was able to go to shoots, get pictures, interview actors and directors and have a lot of fun with it. But since then I’ve had a lot of success with SelfishMom.com, and this site has mostly become just a list of what’s filming. It’s time for me to move on and focus on other things.

When I come across productions and take pictures, I’ll still post them, but on SelfishMom.com (and if you follow FilmingBrooklyn on twitter I’ll tweet those posts). If you get pictures of something filming and want to send them to me I’m happy to post those on Selfish Mom as well. But if you have tips about something filming, I suggest you send them to Christine at OnLocationVacations.com – I get a lot of my info from her anyway.

Thanks so much to all of you who have read and commented, sent in tips and pictures, and spread the word about Filming In Brooklyn. I wish I could keep it going. If, by any chance, any of you would like to take the site over, please email me at Amy@FilmingInBrooklyn.com and we can talk.

Hey all, as some of you have probably noticed, I’ve been putting together the “What’s Filming” posts later in the day. Ideally I would publish the listings the night before, but I often get tips in the morning as people go to work and see productions setting up, or later in the day as new “no parking” signs go up. When I’ve updated an existing listing to include new info, I’ve gotten emails saying that readers missed info that they were interested in because they hadn’t checked the post again later in the day. And when I’ve published an entirely new, updated post, I’ve gotten complaints about the repeated info. So, I’ve been posting later in the day to allow all of the tips to come in, but then I get complaints that the info is coming out too late to be useful. I really do appreciate all of this feedback and have been mulling it all over.

So, in the interest of making my own life easier, getting tips out in a timely fashion, and making updates easier to read, I’m going to change the sometimes haphazard way I’ve been publishing location info: each location will now be it’s own separate post. The title will include the production’s name (if available) and the neighborhood, so that you can get an idea right from the title if you’re interested in that post. If I can confirm that a production is indeed at that location, I’ll leave that info in the comments section, and I encourage you to do the same. If there’s a major piece of new info for a location, such as pictures or a car crash or a celebrity meltdown or whatever, I’ll update the post and move it to the top of the page, with “UPDATED” in the title.

I’ll publish all the tips I have the night before and then continue posting the next day as I get info. One thing that I won’t be able to do is make a new google map for each entry. I will simply add each new location to that day’s existing map.

I hope that this system works a little better, helps you find info you’re interested in easier, and makes the info more timely. Thanks for reading!

Hi all, a blog group that I write for, the New York City Moms Blog, is participating in a little challenge this month, against some other blogs, to see whose readers can raise the most money on DonorsChoose.org, a great site started by a former NYC public school teacher. Since I have such fantastic readers I wanted to reach out to you for help.

Just go here and browse the participating donor requests on that page. Find one you like, and help fund it! You’ll have the satisfaction of knowing that instead of your contribution going into some big pool of money somewhere, you will be directly funding a NYC public school project! You don’t have to give a lot to make a difference. Five dollars would be welcome. There’s a request on there right now asking for money to buy pencils. Pencils! How can you learn when you don’t have pencils?

The winning blogs don’t get anything for winning, except bragging rights. So everybody wins, especially the kids. Both of my kids go to public school, and I see all the time how much the teachers do for those kids, buying supplies for kids who can’t afford them, funding projects out of their own pockets, and doing more with less every single day. They deserve some help.
