According to our friends at Carrot Creative, Boardwalk Empire signs were spotted on Carrol between 6th and 7th for filming today. Thanks!

UPDATE: According to Carrot Creative, St. Johns Place between 6th and 7th Avenues has been roped off and it looks like filming is going on inside a brownstone.

Something called Cargo is filming in the vicinity of Fourth Street and Sixth Avenue. There’s a sci-fi movie called Cargo in pre-production that could be filming reshoots, and there’s also a drama called Cargo due for a 2010 release. Or it could be something totally different! Going the Distance, the new movie starring Drew Barrymore, Christina Applegate, and Justin Long, will be filming on Monday in the vicinity of 5th Avenue and Sterling Place. Signs have been spotted down 5th and 6th Avenues and in the side streets from at least Berkeley Place to St. Marks. Thanks to Carrot Creative, Lou, and Bruce for the tips!

Nicolas Cage movie films next to real fire

T he Sorcerer’s Apprentice was filming scenes at a Park Slope subway station yesterday when a real fire broke out on the same block. According to the website In My Backyard, the fire completely destroyed Grace Cleaners at 511 9th Street, and damaged the apartments upstairs.

A couple of commenters on the brownstoner website confused the fire with the movie shoot.

Filming on the Nicolas Cage movie, based on the dancing broomstick scene from Fantasia, is scheduled to resume Thursday at the corner of Seventh Avenue and 9th Street.

Gossip Girl Has A Ball

Gossip Girl was shooting interiors today at Grand Prospect Hall in Park Slope.

We couldn’t get in to see them shooting, so we had to settle for catching them on their way to and from the set. They were all very gracious, especially given that there were a lot of people there wanting pictures, autographs, and – I’m not kidding – hugs.

Here are Chase Crawford and Taylor Momsen, looking very good in party clothes.

Matthew Settle was late getting back to the set, but still stopped for photos and autographs with the fans.

Jessica Szohr seemed happy to stop and pose.

And I wish I could have spoken with Robert John Burke a while longer. He was extremely friendly. He has a recurring role on Rescue Me as Father Mickey Gavin, and will appear in a movie we’ve been covering quite a bit, Brooklyn’s Finest.

Unorthodox In Park Slope

Filming In Brooklyn found Unorthodox filming in Park Slope today, on Prospect Park West, and also ran into our resident locations manager, Nathan. I have to tell you, after watching him do his job for about twenty minutes, there’s no amount of money you could pay me to do it for five. If anyone else runs into Nathan on a set, or any other location manager for that matter, buy him a drink and be nice.

So Unorthodox, it turns out, is a Hallmark movie being made for TV. It stars Lauren Ambrose of Six Feet Under fame, Adam Kaufman, Mercedes Ruehl, and Ricki Lake. It’s being filmed today in this beautiful house across from Prospect Park.

The inside is being lit from the outside by some big lights on a cherry picker Condor. [Thanks, Nathan!]

What Else Is Filming Wednesday?

In addition to the three big TV shows filming in Brooklyn today, there are a bunch of smaller location shoots going on today as well.

A documentary about autism called Loving Lampposts is doing interviews in Prospect Park, at the Imagination Playground.

Something called The Archive is filming today all over Brooklyn, in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, and Red Hook. They’re kind of roving, but some possible locations include Greene and Adelphi, Washington and Willoughby, Fulton and South Elliot, Conover and Coffey, and Van Dyke and Van Brunt.

The Tested is filming at a liquor store on 23rd Avenue near 85th street (is that Windsor Terrace?).

Language and Learning is filming on Fourth Avenue near Union Street (is that still Park Slope? I’m having neighborhood dyslexia today), and also at Old Fulton Street near Water Street in Dumbo.

A movie called Heterosexuals will be filming tonight at The Rabbit Hole, 352 Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg.

And last, Have You Slept With Me is filming at 540 Metropolitan Avenue, also in Williamsburg.

Filming News For Tuesday

Fringe will be filming in two Brooklyn locations tomorrow (in Ditmas Park and Bay Ridge), according to On Location Vacations.

Lipstick Jungle will be filming tomorrow in Brooklyn Heights, at Polytechnic University. Thanks to On Location Vacations, and FIB readers Hayley and Ann.

Also, thanks to Hayley and Ann for letting us know that Gossip Girl will be back at Packer in Brooklyn Heights on Monday, August 11th.

And last, we found this on Only The Blog Knows Brooklyn: ABC news had actors (a mom, a nanny, and a child) at Ozzie’s on 7th in Park Slope pretending to get into fights, so that they could film patron’s reactions. I love those shows!

Valentine’s Sure Is Getting Around!

The Nia Vardalos movie I Hate Valentine’s Day, which is supposed to be filming today (Thursday) on Dekalb Avenue next to Fort Green Park, will be in Dumbo tomorrow, in the vicinity of Front and Washington Streets, according to our friends at Dumbo NYC. Update: We just saw this post over at Only The Blog Knows Brooklyn, saying that they’re also filming tomorrow (Friday) inside Elementi, on Seventh Avenue near Garfield.

How Many Umas Could There Be?

Driving down 7th Avenue in Park Slope today, Filming In Brooklyn found itself behind this SUV, with the license plate “I LUVUMA”. There’s no way for us to know if this is an obsessed fan of Uma Thurman, or just someone with a girlfriend/wife named Uma. But if it is indeed a fan, then after all the problems Uma Thurman has had lately with stalkers, we sincerely hope that this one just likes watching her from afar.
