Filming In Brooklyn got tips over the weekend from readers Shawn and Caitlin that Rescue Me will be filming on Monday and Tuesday in the vicinity of Park Place and Washington Avenue.  Thanks for the tips, and thanks to Shawn for the No Parking picture.

Rescue Me shoots are usually pretty interesting.  If you get any pictures, I’d love to post them.

Filming In Brooklyn was lucky enough to spot all three of the series’ stars today, and we’d like to thank them for taking the time to have their pictures taken.  We know it must get tiresome, and we want them to know that their fans really do appreciate it.

First we caught them rehearsing a scene outside of their “125th Precinct House” at the corner of Dean and Vanderbilt:

After lunch was called we were able to get a little closer.  We were dying to ask Michael Imperioli if it’s a pain to keep up that fabulous hair for the show, but didn’t want to take up too much of his time on his way to lunch.

Looks like it was a ton of fun!  I’ve had the pleasure of interviewing two different Muppets in the past couple of months, and the logistics were intense.  Not only is it hard to position the Muppets and humans together in the shot without showing the Muppeteers, but the Muppeteers also have to be able to see the video feed from the camera that’s on them at all times.  I was just doing it with one human and one Muppet at a time, so I can’t imagine the logistics of fitting five or six Muppets into a shot.  But I guess after all these years they’ve got it down pretty good.

There’s a comment on the post saying that they will be back in Brooklyn on Wednesday, in Prospect Heights.  Anyone know the location?

A Brooklynian poster thinks she saw some Real World: Brooklyn cast members joining the Crunch gym on Flatbush in Prospect Heights.

First, I came upon some more cool 70s-era cars, and a couple of motorcycles.

An old building on Dean was dressed up to look like the 125th Precinct House. This is one of the main settings for the show, which means that they will be back shooting in this location frequently.

Jason O’Mara plays Detective Sam Tyler. I couldn’t quite place him, but he looked totally familiar. A quick trip to IMDB revealed that, among many other guest appearances, he played Phillip Robinson on two episodes of Grey’s Anatomy (he was the guy with the brain tumor who provoked a bear attack).

Most of us probably remember Lisa Bonet from The Cosby Show and A Different World.

Later on in the evening, a scene was filmed with period cars going down the street past the “125th precinct” and lots of extras, looking fab in their ‘fros and bell bottoms.

So while I found no sign of Michael Imperioli or Harvey Keitel today, it sounds like there will be plenty more chances in the months to come.

Life On Mars Brings The Way Back Machine To Dean Street [Filming In Brooklyn]

Preparations are underway for a scene set in the 1970s.

Parts of the bike lane on Dean are being painted over.

More than a dozen picture cars are parked up and down Dean, including some really cool period NYC police cars.

We’ll be stopping by again in a little bit.

UPDATE: We stopped by, and there’s still no filming going on. Apparently the production is still at another location, but will be moving to this location soon. Which means they should start filming…right around the time I will become unavailable for the rest of the day! So if anyone is in the area, please try to get pictures.

Lisa Bonet was there, inside a trailer with the door open. But I guess what sets this site apart from some others is that I wasn’t about to stick my camera into a trailer to get a picture. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to get a picture of her later today. In the mean time, here are some more pictures of old vehicles.

Michael Imperioli’s new series Life on Mars is filming near Vanderbilt and Pacific in Prospect Heights (thanks Fidelia!). Life on Mars is set in the 70s, and tomorrow’s shoot calls for 70s-era picture cars. Should be fun!

Lipstick Jungle is filming in Greenpoint again, at 114 Kent.

And last, Good Morning Japan is filming live from the Coney Island Boardwalk!

When we stopped by, Richard Gere was in the house, but we were not allowed inside and we couldn’t wait around. But he was in there!
